On the morning of 17 May 2022, a transmission was detected originating from the outpost of Bergen, Neptune (). At approximately 14h Paris time, The Sun Rave Arkestra were able to tune our drum machines to the Carrier Rhythm and intercept a partial transmission.

Our findings have been recorded as "Disco Transmission (Neptune)" and submitted to as artefact [ARKE] 2022.

There's a musique concrète pretentious rave going on in that picture of Bergen. Here's the recording: mastodon.art/@tfb/108317335117

I've done a couple musical sketches inspired by Curator Prompts. I should probably record and share them next time.

Which gave me an idea: I have a bit of time on Tuesday, so I'll do that for my entry. There's no way this plan could fail horribly!

So I was just rereading "A Wizard Abroad", and there's a scene where the tiny kitten bard Tualha, climbing out of a backpack to perch upon a rock, faces off against the giant, malevolent cyclops tyrant god Balor (who has just shrugged off a spear made of the core of a star, embodied with the spirit of fire and wielded by the warrior god Lugh) by singing sarcastic and ironic praise before straight up insulting Balor, to goad him into a mistake.

And I cannot find art work of this scene and I am disappointed in the internet.

I also enjoy photography, though I do less of it these days aside from taking pictures of my young children. I’ll certainly get back into it a bit more when they get older, and I still enjoy talking shop. Before children, I was evenly split between b&w film and digital.

Since I’m new to this instance, time for an . My main account is @tfb@functional.cafe.

I’m an amateur musician and singer, mostly doing Irish Traditional and Folk music these days. I primarily play the tin whistle and uilleann pipes. I also enjoy building and playing with synthesizers, and sometimes make House music and Hip-Hop. My taste for listening to music runs from jazz to blues to hip-hop to house to r&b to reggae, and I’ll sometimes dabble in making music anywhere in there.

A reddit post, reading: Mastodon is just too complicated for the average user. I don't think it will ever house non-tech content. Requiring users to know how federation works was a stupid move. It is an unintuitive implementation detail and all this instance bs should be transparent to the user.

It really is a single-topic platform.

I also have an idea of how to add The Long Drop and make it a suite. I might even try to add Tommy Peoples' at the end, as a reverse variant of the suite Kevin Crawford did here youtube.com/watch?v=N4So5tQ4wh

I had an amusing setback when trying to record this «properly» : I set down a click track, then did the bodhrán drum track, the house/disco drums, the bassline, and a lead part with some of the B melody from the reel. With all that overdubbing it came out boring and stale.

So, new plan: do it as a series of live recordings, two parts at a time. No click track.

Here’s a sketch of something I’m working on. I’m working on turning Callaghan’s Reel into a House track. This is me exploring some ideas for part A of the reel. It’s very much not a finished track, but do let me know if you have anything to say about it!

I also enjoy photography, though I do less of it these days aside from taking pictures of my young children. I’ll certainly get back into it a bit more when they get older, and I still enjoy talking shop. Before children, I was evenly split between b&w film and digital.
