Posting some art now that things have settled down! Among other things, I make digital art focused on the scale and networks of fungi, trying to represent the huge, invisible forms these organisms take beneath the soil.

Still in a bit of a fungal lull, and need to get back out mushroom hunting. Might post some plants to make up for the lack of mycelial activity, too. In the meantime, I've been making a website!

A few bits of writing and art are hosted there at the moment, and soon it'll be active a little more often with a blog and other content not fit for short-form socials like twitter, mastodon and instagram.

Been on holiday for a little while and only managed a few out-of-focus fungi pics! And the one day I went out without my phone I saw a tree with the biggest polypores I've ever seen...
Back to more regular posting, now!

I thought a pride month piece would just involve some colourful fungi but it evolved into a cosmic-rainbow-lava-lamp mushroom hatching from a big space egg.

Blue, Pearl and Pink Oyster mushrooms 🏳️‍⚧️
Made this one a while ago, posting it again for pride month. I'll try and make some rainbow mycelium soon too!

Maze 68, Moss and Lichen is one of my favorites. This maze was inspired by a mass of moss and lichen on a branch that fell onto an outdoor table during a January storm. I walked by it every day, noting how it changed from day to day. On sunny days it would shrivel and turn dusty brown. On rainy days, it glowed in vibrant dripping shades of green and brown. One foggy morning, frosty rime highlighted the edges and that's when I acted to draw it.

This piece was inspired by miscroscope imagery, which I so far can only trace back to here, where it turns out to be part of a fascinating time lapse video of Aspergillus fumigatus!

Ghostly mycelial fingers...
I made this piece to explore a closer view of fungal hyphae than I usually do. It was inspired by microscopic imagery that made it look as if ethereal forms pushed forward the hyphae at their tips...

Sorry I've been so active on here! Just bad timing that I've been on social media a lot less after making a mastodon account. Some new art coming tomorrow!

A whole gaggle of King Alfred's Cakes cling tight to the end of this log. Passers by trotting through the mud in wellies might assume they're just trying to stay clean, but in reality they're playing a particularly engaging game of the floor is lava.

Lounging in the undergrowth, these mushrooms just can't quite get comfortable. They sit straight upright, lay splayed out, flip themselves upside down... nothing quite works. They all become concerned when one of them suggests sitting cross-legged.

My posts other than art are these little stories about mushrooms I find. The images and text are always mine and I alt-text every image! If you like this sort of post I have lots more on twitter/instagram, which I'm not sure I'll ever get round to posting on here. But there'll be plenty of new ones!

An admirer has laid some roses for these bracket fungi. The gift is much appreciated, but causes immeasurable stress when the mushrooms think about what vase they belong in.

Hey all! Excited to post art when things have calmed down a little. Digital artist drawing a lot of fungi and occasionally other sci-fi stuff too!
