"This can't be happening!" Princess Grey exclaimed "I am the supreme being! I am the light and the dark! I am the universe itself! I AM TH-"
She had dissolved completely before finishing her thought, leaving her mask to fall to the ground
Knowing that their long quest was over, Lottie, Nep, Delores, Maxine, Claire, Ingrid, and Sunny began their journey home as the sun rose upon the Earth once more.
Day 31: Victory
As the battle raged on, Princess Grey's attacks started to stagger, and her defensives began to fall.
"PATHETIC WORMS! YOU CANNOT DEFEAT ME!" Princess Grey shouted
But before she knew it, the final blow was struck, and everything began to fall apart.
The palace crumbled to dust, the dark void everyone was trapped in dissipated, and what remained of Princess Grey lay on the ground trying to get up as she dissolved.
"It means that every instance of Princess Grey has been linked on a quantum level! If we destroy her here..."
"We destroy her everywhere in the universe?" Lottie added
"Exactly!" Claire confirmed
"Well then..." Lottie said "This just became a fair fight."
"A fair fight?" Grey interjected sounding offended "I've been holding back, if you want a REAL fair fight, you'll fight me at FULL POWER!"
The girls responded with an enthusiastic:
"Bring it on!"
It only had one spell, "entangle." Lottie casted it toward Princess Grey, and things began to become strange.
"What was that? What have you done to me?" Princess Grey demanded
Claire thought for a second, and eventually recognized the phenomenon she saw.
"Guys!" Claire exclaimed "She's become quantumly entangled!"
"What does that mean?" Ingrid asked
Delores added: "Apart from the whole death thing, I wouldn't change a thing about this."
Nep added: "You guys are my best friends."
Suddenly, everyone's wands began to react to their feelings of friendship and unity, and their magic seemed to combine.
"What manner of magic is this?" Princess Grey bellowed
The combination of magic from everyone's wands opened a small tear in space and time. Lottie instinctively reached inside, and pulled out THE QUANTUM WAND.
Day 29: Preparations
As the girls battled Princess Grey, it was becoming obvious that no amount of preparations could have readied them for this fight. Grey's health could be whittled down, but she could recover just as easily.
As the fight dragged on, it was becoming more apparent that they wouldn't last much longer.
"Hey guys..." Lottie said exhaustedly "I just want you to know, that no matter what happens, I'm glad I got to know all of you."
Everyone else shared the sentiment.
"Very well then." Princess Grey relented "If you want a pointless fight, just to be crushed beneath me, so be it."
She then summoned a powerful energy from the walls surrounding her and said:
"Prepare to die."
The hallway they were in led to a large empty room.
"PRINCESS GREY! SHOW YOURSELF!" Lottie commanded
Princess Grey materialized from the darkness.
"You dare command me?" She said
"We do. If you want to take our planet, you're going to have to fight all of us to get it."
Princess Grey scoffed at Lottie's confidence.
"Do you think you're the first to say that to me?" Grey said coldly
Everyone looked at each other for a moment, but their resolve did not break.
Day 28: Teamwork
With a new resolve, the team forged ahead, into the grand palace that Princess Grey constructed for herself. As they approached the entrance façade, the dark fog parted, as if they were being invited inside.
The inside was strange, completely colorless, and filled with geometric patterns. Once everyone was inside, the fog filled in behind them, just before the entrance closed itself.
No going back now.
"I've been thinking about my students. I would do anything to protect them. If Princess Grey is going to destroy our world, then I want this world to be the most difficult one she's ever gone up against!"
With morale boosted, everyone agreed. They would fight Princess Grey.
One last time.
Delores stood there silently, reflecting on choices and sacrifices she made, wondering if things could be different.
Lottie's mind was on her students, children she had worked with, teaching them how to dance, and teaching them not to be afraid of water.
She wondered where they were now, if they were afraid, if they could see the dark clouds from their homes.
After a good while, Lottie broke the silence by saying:
"I'm going to fight her."
"Why?" Ingrid asked "We have no way of beating her!"
Day 27: Boost
"What now?" Everyone wondered.
They had enough wands to defeat Princess Grey, but no idea how they were supposed to beat her. What's worse is that they weren't sure if any possibility of victory would be permanent.
"If we defeat her, she's just going to come back again." Nep said
"She probably has destroyed millions of other planets before ours." Claire responded
"Hard to believe this is how the world ends." Maxine added
They escaped just as the fog reached the edge of the oasis.
"I'm going to need a lot of therapy after all this." Claire said.
As they looked back to the oasis, they saw only stone.
As she finished speaking, she raised her arms to summon a dark mist that turned whatever it touched into rock.
"Dad? Can you hear me?" Sunny asked her father with urgency "I'm going to fix this, I'm going to make you better! I don't know how yet, but I'll figure something out!"
"Sunny! We gotta run!" Lottie interrupted.
Everyone began to run towards the entrance of the village, with the fog advancing quickly, Ingrid whipped up a shield spell to keep it away just long enough for them to escape.
"I defeated you before, and together, we'll defeat you again!" Delores yelled
Princess Grey shifted her tone and calmly said: "Probably, but it won't matter."
"What do you mean by that?" asked Maxine
"I'm not a singular entity, I am a collective, I am a swarm. You can destroy one of me, I have no doubt about that. But I can make more of me, more of my underlings, and I doubt you can fight forever. I on the other hand, can."
"This is YOUR doing isn't it?" Sunny yelled as Princess Grey materialized from the mist.
"My best work yet. A virus that encases parasites in stone. I specifically made it to keep them alive for now, so that they can witness every moment of this world's destruction."
"You MONSTER! We'll never let you get away with this!" Lottie shouted
"I AM NOT THE MONSTER HERE!" Princess Grey snapped back "You are the monsters, spoiling this universe, which is MY birthright, with your very existence!"
Day 26: Therapy
The group ran through the square of the town looking for Sunny's father. Eventually, they found him completely petrified in stone, holding out his willstone, as if trying to ward off an oncoming force.
"FATHER!" Sunny screamed and ran over to him "What happened to you?"
Just then a sinister laugh began to come out of the surrounding fog.
"As much as I hate this planet, I have to admit that it has imparted some kernels of wisdom to me.
'Bigger isn't always better' as they say."
