According to a survey (see src) only 48% of US participants & 44% of Russian participants felt the statement "Human beings, as we know them today, developed from earlier species of animals" was true or most likely true (with the remaining choosing unsure, most likely false or false). Across Europe, 70% chose true or most likely true; In Japan 76%; China 66%.
When worded differently, US scored 72%.
