a little story from a few years back:
my art school holds an annual holiday card contest, juried by a group of college staff. winning artwork gets sent out as a sch email mailer and some $. i entered and didn't win, it's cool. a couple weeks later, one of the staff emails me, says he really likes my style and commissioned me to do a holiday card for his family. since then, i've been drawing holiday cards for his fam for 3 years now. he sends me photo refs of the fam, and despite having never met any of them, it feels like i'm watching them grow up through my cards. i don't know where i'm going with this, i guess it's just really sweet that they've remembered me and my work each year.
