Just updated my website ^^

Now has a nicer image for the latest track as well as a couple of other pages so it's a little less bare-bone.

Also it should look less awful on phones now.

Free trick:

Take mono sound
Add reverb plugin
Decay and size on minimum and diffusion pretty high
Enjoy free stereo separation

@eishiya Lower frequencies will cancel out a lot. Higher ones not so much. Sub frequencies especially - and a lot of speaker systems have a mono sub so the cancelling happens before the sound is even in the air, so the easter egg would be most hidden down there.

I should use ambience noises more. They add so much to make things sound less isolated. Even if the ambience is just a washy reverb tail on one of the sounds. It just fills out a space so well.

Concept: hiding easter eggs in music for headphone users only by making them with no Mid signal so on speakers or in mono they cancel to nothing.

🎉🎉🎉 Released!!!! 🎉🎉🎉

The year is 2069. You and a few metamours are going on a date to burn down one of the few nazi conventions left.

Todd Howard will be re-releasing Skyrim later next month...

Enjoy! <3 :boost_ok: :boost_ok: :boost_ok:

Once again thanks to @AgathaSorceress for recording a bit of guitar for this one ^^

Frequency shifters are so cool.

Drums out of tune but pitching the sample ruins the transient? Frequency shifter.
Need more stereo separation? Frequency shifter.
Want to add a watery growl to your bass? Frequency shifter.
Wanna make your vocals sound alien/robotic? Frequency shifter.

It's magic.

I should make more music like this and then put them all in an album and call it "Music to punch nazis to".

It's only recently that I'm properly starting to appreciate just how powerful builds can be in selling a drop. Like, if you have an amazing drop but don't really have any kind of build then you kinda just get placed into it and it can be great but underwhelming.

Conversely, if your drop is a bass drum and a single saw pluck with nothing else to it (cough psytrance cough) but your build is amazing, then that drop is gonna hit so fucking hard.

something something "What makes a doom guy a doom guy?"

Me: "this snare's really snappy I probably don't need to put a compressor on it"
Me: ...
Me: *puts a compressor on it anyway*
Snare: 💣

@silver Yeah, FM basses are fun. I've used them in several things already (main basses in Oversky and Cancelled, also the talky one in Await and Lawa Mi, among others). I could certainly play with some more kinds though cause FM is a whole universe of its own.

What prompted the original post though was hearing the more like, comb-filtered noise sounds and the really watery basses, also laser-y sounds are so fun. Basically everything in this: youtu.be/POdwQezlvDc [cw: flashing lights]

I really wanna learn more about bass design. I feel like I can make some nice sounds but they're all kinda in the same ballpark and I keep hearing these absurdly cool sounds in other ppl's stuff and like, fuck I wanna learn the science-y stuff behind how to create different kinds of effects and timbres cause sound design is so fucking interesting honestly.
