TMW has the right idea. In fact, https://www.ctrlpaint.com/ is great because it teaches solid art fundamentals (which are your visual art tools and remain consistent, no matter what the medium) in a digital art program.
If there's any disadvantage, I'd say it can make you "cramped." In my fine arts classes, we stood at easels, worked on canvases that were 3x3feet...Which is great because you get to use your whole arm to draw. But I do my digital stuff on a slab no bigger than a letter-sized sheet of paper, which makes you draw from the wrist more. Make sure to exercise for your health!
