Oh! I did one other video practice song last week, that time to work on fingerpicking and more acoustic style.
Again, it's messy and there are mistakes in it, but I'm determined to stay on my recent kick of playing again and I feel like sharing helps me stay motivated.
This song I wrote called "certainty" and there's more parts to it, including lyrics I can't hit the notes for anymore 🤣
With life being extra crazy lately, I decided to take yesterday off completely and just practice my instruments for the first time in forever.
I made this! It's really sloppy, it's not a masterpiece of any kind, but it was a lot of fun to make it up as I went.
The phrase "Counting Down The Days" kept running through my head.
It feels good to play music again. Though my left wrist and fingers are in pain this morning lol.
Here's something sort of goofy I did recently for a challenge to use your "shittiest gear" to make a song. I love all my music stuff, some good, some less good. Sometimes the shitttier the better.

Ok here goes posting something I made. Done a few weeks ago. Kind of a quirky #guitar #pop thing with some #omnichord and #harmonies.

Also this track was the first time I've stuck to strictly LCR mixing. Except the kit because I was too lazy to go through and pan all the pads to center 🤣
Also also, my V drums are beat to hell and you have to hit them really hard to get the pads to register so that's... fun haha.
And as a sidebar, the ability to make/edit videos in reaper is astounding and changed my life. There's a great plugin you can use to record OBS simultaneously and have it import almost-fully syncd

Also, just a fun little tidbit. I really like horizontal pitch-benders on synths WAY more than the roll-up kind.
So I took an old fader out of a mixing console and tore apart my cheap little Q49, and hacked in the fader to act as the pitch bender. I used a spring from a broken staplegun to make it return to center!
I did it about a year ago and the crazy thing still is holding up! Doesn't perfectly go back to center, but hey that's just flavor I guess.
Here's a shot of it in action:

I used to be an #art teacher. Did I mention that? Taught in secondary schools, ages 11 - 17. I love teaching, I love teaching art. I have working knowledge in a lot of arts, I’m a good all-rounder.
Anyway. Sometimes in other art groups I’m in I come across the most ridiculous wrong headed assumptions about art or particular isms. I just found one about #photorealism.
“Just use a photo.”
No. You know nothing, fool. Stop talking. Listen.
Putting in my resignation today at a job I’ve worked at for eight years. Basically my entire professional life so far has been with this business.
But I’ve just been given an opportunity to work in a real artistic/creative capacity, fully remote, full time, and I am STOKED.
It’s a wild feeling though. Definitely taking a risk in doing so, and leaving this place that has been very stable and I’m well established.
The choice feels right, but I’m still nervous!
I just cannot get over the joy I feel being able to achieve gradients like this
I'm absolutely going to ruin these with the brush painted bits, but who cares
I love talking shop, and hearing about how artists make their art! I think process is one of the most fascinating things.
I love weird music, I love people who pour their entire hearts into their work, I love learning just about anything, I love open source software, I love art where the jagged edges still poke through, I love genuine people who want to be their best.
I couldn't figure out how to best hashtag all of the above so... there it is. :P

I love and dabble in any kind of artistic medium I can get my hands on.
My life goal is to fill the world with as much harmless silly joy as possible.
