New introduction post, now with captions...!

Hello, my name is Gabriel, and I paint deranged monsters or pretty science- fantasy worldbuilding things with unusual designs. Sometimes both at once. I also take photos of birds occasionally, with my fz80.

Software I use is krita, blender and RawTherapee.

I often draw horror art, too. I like trying to make deeply unsettling things beautiful.

🎶 "You will never ever ever ever get to me in here."

An old piece I still love, drawn to Nine Inch Nails' "Echoplex".

The labels on the medical containers + books etc will be made with a of mine, which I made a font for so I don't have to individually draw every letter lolll. I still have to rasterize them and arrange them though, because they write words vertically - the letters appear left-right-left-right-etc along a line

hospital, medical instruments

Finally finished the draft textures + materials for this behemoth of a scene. A lot to fix; UVs are a bit janked in some places, the contrast & saturation doesn't match up in some areas, some of the corners of elements need slight softening, etc. And all textures need polish, but that's a given. Getting there!

Re-boosting your own posts for 'the morning crew' or 'the night crew' is an acceptable and encouraged practice here. We are largely a community of supportive people who enjoy being given the opportunity to help each other and boost content we may have previously missed.

You should never feel ashamed of promoting yourself, especially as an artist, when it's so difficult to reach people. If anyone doesn't want to see your boosts, they can just scroll past.

mental/physical health talk

i'll probably be better off with the routine, even if hella stressful. i am very bad at keeping to my own routine, which makes me turn into a fatigued sludge creature. which then makes me afraid to do anything that might make me exert myself. which makes my disabilities worse. hell cycle.

god my sleep is so scuffed, even when i'm tired at 2am i stay up till like 5am. it's been a few months of being unable to wake up before 1pm and I slept until 3pm today. T_T

i'm afraid of next semester - my last one - bc it's 3 high workload subjects, but I wonder how much having a more intense routine will help keep me sleeping normally. i've only done 1 subject for 2 semesters in a row so i'm really unsure how i'll handle it

i decided on playing a few hours of outer wilds, which was a good choice. i need to catch up on life things tomorrow so this project is off limits then too. usually a cycle of hyperfixations works out for me, bc i always have something else to do when i burn out on the other thing. it does not work with deadlines however :I

medical talk / EDS

its v funny how i suddenly realized, years later, that i should look into hypermobility bc i don't understand it: at a party we were talking about tongue piercings & I wondered how many I could fit in my mouth so they asked me to raise tongue bc the webbing is the limiting factor. i have no webbing. everyone freaked tf out over it. i was like huh, might be why i wake up choking if i sleep on my back. this is apparently a v reliable indicator of EDS - bc soft tissue dysfunction

medical talk / EDS

i really need to see a dr for EDS. i was told by an *associate professor maxillofacial surgeon* that i look like i have it and i was like lol i cant do the splits i'm not hypermobile. i am cursed with confidence so people just assume i know what i'm on about & don't push further. bc it turns out....hypermobilty is joints moving in ways they should not, and i have recently learned mine move in ways that are not normal. like i shouldn't have the problem i had this morning, alas

disability / injury

tfw u nearly dislocate ur arm the moment you wake up simply by reaching over to a table near you to grab ur meds container. whoever made me really did not have durability in mind

forgot to mention that you can see the progress of this 3D scene from start to present here. it's public, so anyone can see it. 'finish' is scheduled to be 3 weeks from now. ko-fi.com/album/Nails-Teeth-Lo

taking a day off and i honestly don't know what to do with myself,, i still want to keep working on this 3D scene despite knowing i'm burning out on it. hyperfixation is one hell of a drug 😭

@machinesbleedtoo That - but also constantly verifying the chain of rules and slapping an !important somewhere only to forget it and having to dig for it way later...

guess who not only invented a new conlang but also made a font for it so they don't have to hand draw everything: this bitch. it'll take some raster'ing vector text layers and rearranging elements, but you know, close enough

this is what happens when you let a painfully stereotypical INTJ scientist near art. disaster
