It happened. I released my new album:

The limited edition cassettes will take a while before they ship, but if you order now you can listen digitally right away.

@sixohsix Honest question: why cassette tapes? Beyond a sort of kitschy nostalgia, I don't understand this trend.

@ink_slinger the primary format is digital... But what if you want a physical object to collect? CDs fail after 20 years and they are identical to a download anyway. Vinyl is great but you have to print hundreds of records, minimum. So tape is the only thing left to sell in a short run.

Though Kamizdat, @luka 's label sells artful books with audio on USB sticks, which is also excellent.

@sixohsix @luka Audio cassettes just always seemed like a junk format -- bad sound, fall apart easily (but also can be fixed with a pencil) -- but explained this way, it actually makes a lot more sense and isn't just the weird hipster thing I had assumed.

@ink_slinger @sixohsix

I am a child of digital audio.
So mass access make only sense through costless copy & digital networks.

But then there's an idea of special, limited edition, small run, hand numbered, hand-made deluxe collectible physical artworks for die hard fans who want to hold something in their hands, take something home from amazing concert, have it on the shelf, flip through, touch...

Mhm!
