#Email is the oldest and most popular way to communicate online.

However, some email providers don't respect privacy. For example, Gmail reads your mail and lets third parties read it too.

There are much more privacy-friendly email providers out there, for example:

Tutanota
tutanota.com/
@Tutanota

Posteo
posteo.de/en

Protonmail
protonmail.com

Fastmail
fastmail.com

Thexyz
thexyz.com

#AlternativesAtoZ #DeleteGmail

@switchingsocial @Tutanota Is that refering to Google's sorting? Honestly, I've used my ISP's email, and I really missed Google's sorting of promotions and social. I have been thinking of switching, but my university only accepts Outlook or Gmail accounts.

@jlbee @Tutanota

Very sad to hear about your university :(

Original post is referring to several years of stuff leaking out about what Google does:

theguardian.com/technology/201

variety.com/2017/digital/news/

cnet.com/news/third-party-gmai

etc etc etc.

If you trust Google to not do anything bad with your personal data, then go ahead and use it.

I personally don't trust ad-driven email accounts at all any more, and that's why there's the alternatives in the original post.

@switchingsocial @Tutanota Good to know. I don't know about the university on a whole, but it's the computer science faculty that likes Gmail. They have contracts with Microsoft and Google, so that's probably why. Then again, I kind of agree becaues I don't trust hotmail or most ISPs either!
