Hey there ! I forgot to tag the previous post so here goes.
I'm Shad, I mostly post my paintings but also try my hand at various stuff all the time.

i've been super busy with school but i'm on winter break now so finally time to try and update my online stuff !
Best advice I was ever given in regards to drawing (in all forms- from life, cartooning, design, all of it) was to pay as much attention to the negative space around the subject as much as the subject itself. It's one of those things I'm constantly and subconsciously thinking about.

i tried a watercolor background wash with one of my new prints and i think i like how the way it turned out! it's also giving me more ideas for watercolor and prints :)

This was one of our final class readings, and it really hit home for me. I sometimes feel I get too caught up in making art that looks good, rather than just focusing on the making. It's good to take a step back sometimes and not worry about what looks good or right, but just create to create.

don't think i uploaded this here yet, my portrait of willem arondeus, a gay dutch artist who was heavily involved in the resistance to nazi occupation, bombed a records office to prevent the nazis from finding jewish people in the area.
