Being part of a marginalised group does not make you immune to bigotry and discrimination. Gay people can still be transphobic. Trans people can still be anti-Black. BIPOC people can still be misogynist. POC can still be racist against other POC. Pushing each other down benefits no one but the oppressors.

Through empathy for each other, this can be fixed. Unlearn your biases. Remove the things which hold us apart.

Together, we are strong.

Continued on the exporter today. After refactoring the importer for readability and smoothing over some other edges, I played with the compression settings. @davidrevoy mentioned in the past he worries a lot about keeping texture in his images, so used Pepper and Carrot 33, page 4.

Started with a jpeg (2 MiB), avif lossless was 3.1 MiB, lossy 75%, 1.4 MiB, 50%, 670.8 KiB, 25%, 238.2 KiB.

25% shows compression real well, 50% is passable, 75% decent. Not huge gains, but decent.

trans voice training resource

Finally found a resource on voice training that really clicks well with me. She really knows what she's talking about. And as she has a background in music she also analyzes the whole thing in a technical way.

Like in one video she started talking about measuring the impulse response of the vocal tract when she talked about resonance, which I found awesome and funny at the same time :)

I can’t really control who answers this poll, but let’s try to boost this and get some answers because as someone who manages an online community for a living I’m curious...

Instance admins or mods, did you have prior community management experience before taking on your role on the fedi? (And please no comments here, I just want poll answers.)

Not Going Back To Normal is a group project by disabled Scottish artists and writers. After months of work it's finally online (a book will follow later this year). I'm really thrilled to have work in it and looking forward to reading *everything* in it. notgoingbacktonormal.com/

abuse, 30something getting angry at cartoons for children

Obviously abusive parents (or other older family members) in cartoons targeted at childrens change for the better in one or two episodes or with a single moral lesson.

This revelations doesn't happen in real life, and while I can understand escapism and I don't need realism in fiction, this feels fake and it isn't satisfying. Not for kids, not for adults that were abused.

They don't change, at best they can be decent grandparents.

A couple of doodles on top of watercolour blobs! I need to do more of this type of thing, it's always very relaxing

Yesterday we had a long power outage that affected the entire region, so I spent the time on some traditional art. Posca pens go quite well with coloured pencils!
