@eylul Seems like Twitter got a new algorithm and whispers of shadow bannings ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Pretty fun with so many new folks storming the gate tho
I'm going to start a thread of quick #MastoTips for new users. Apologies for any hiccoughs, these toots aren't planned, so they may seem a little haphazard.
First of all: Welcome to Mastodon! If you're coming from Twitter you'll find some things very similar. Mastodon is a microblogging platform for sharing thoughts, photos, music, video, etc.
Posts on Mastodon are affectionately called "toots". You can laugh, it's OK. We found it funny too when we first joined.
People might also not know Mastodon is not the only type of social media sites that interact here.
There is also:
@pixelfed (Like Instagram)
Peertube (Like YouTube)
(You can see how they look in the pictures in the order that they are mentioned)
You can find more decentralized social media platforms at https://fediverse.party/
tips for newcomers
follow, boost and fave all you like! we don't care about follow ratios and faves are private. go hog wild!
boosting your own posts is 100% ok. no shame. the TL is chronological, so there's no algorithm to fight.
please do use CWs. if in doubt, use one just to be safe.
hashtags are your friends and really the only effective way to search for posts. be sure to use them to maximize your reach.
don't be afraid to engage. dumping pictures is fine but stay and chat a bit too!
Krita 4.2.5 released (please update if you have 4.2.4; important bug fix!) https://krita.org/en/item/krita-4-2-5-released/
If you're looking for musicians to follow, have a look at who I am following from this account - almost all of them are pretty cool active mastodon musicians! If you're looking for something specific, feel free to ask - I know at least the music of the ones who have participated in one of the #MusicCollab s pretty well! #music 🐳🎼
We've just released Krita 4.2.3: https://krita.org/en/item/krita-4-2-3-released/ … -- this fixes problems with starting Krita on Windows systems with broken graphics drivers and adds canvas rotation with touch gestures. And 30 more bug fixes.
The BriqueCamp / YunoCamp 2019 will happen in Paris from August 10th to 16th ! 😋
We would be glad to meet you if you wish to discuss or learn or contribute to the Internet Cube or #YunoHost project (we desperately need people willing to work on "not-code" stuff like communication, UX tests, design, ... ) ... Or working on another Internet decentralization project is fine too!
Please contact us if you plan to attend and need an accomodation!
I couldn't agree more! It will change! Also, there is a lot of space for architecture related software to become better and get more users.
(#Fedi is ephemeral, so I'm reposting it occasionally)
Ok, second part of the animating water tiles post, this time about shaders in #godotengine:
Playing around with Raph Levien's new curve type that he presented at the last LGM, converted to C++. Also comparing to his old spiro type. The blue dots are after conversion to cubic beziers. Where the old spiro is more like having to keep up with a higgs boson gone mad, the new type is much more stable. These curves potentially help a lot to cut down on bezier handle clutter when working with paths.
