I'm working on a redesign of my personal website, and need other eyes on it. It's easier to work on other people's stuff than my own as I get overly granular on details. #webdesign #mysite #artwebsite #designwebsite #WIP #needcritique
@levitea eh.. err.... uh... And this is why I need another set of eyes. HA! The default was set to Calibri and I was swapping them out for something else. i think I missed that one.

@drakenhart
* what does the forward arrow icon on the bottom of the left one mean? There doesn’t seem to be anything comparable to that one in the full menu
* if the left is the mobile version, those links may be a bit too close to each other to tap accurately
* I’d take out the border around the menu, but I don’t have much justification for that. They stand out enough without? I’d also use a more conventional hamburger icon and put it on the left of the “menu” text
@drakenhart I really like your dragon background and the way you have the title faded over it on the left version. Is there some way to do that in the wider view? (but also it’s fine as-is 😊)
@haloedrain Hrmmn that's an interesting point. So you mean the "box" behind the title, or the general overlay of the box over the image?
@drakenhart in general overlain general overlaying the title box over the image. The image feels very tied into the rest of the page on the left, where it’s a little bit separate on the right. On the other hand, you can see the nice drawing better on the right...
@haloedrain Hrmmn.... how about. I ran through a few iterations... Thoughts on these?
@drakenhart I think that does bring out the logo a little more and pulls in the dragon. I’m flipping back and forth between these two and being indecisive though—left seems like a better use of the width, but I really do like the stacked logo 🤔
@haloedrain I'll take the thought home and sleep on it tonight. Thanks for the feedback!! :) <3
@drakenhart good luck! Designing for yourself is hard
@haloedrain
Thank you for your input!!
"Share" But the Share icon has seen several version including the one Google currently uses which looks like a Chemistry model. I'm debating making them smaller to fit text under them, or if the Share is even needed.
I didn't have the icon for the hamburger when I did this initially. ^.^ So that's an easy fix. Thanks!
@haloedrain Yeah I need to do a solid measure of the surrounding space of those link. The "underlined" versions has more breathing room. But I'm still debating if I should just make the boxes, card that are linked to a seperate sub page or not.
@drakenhart in my opinion the right picture is more pleasing and the picture isn’t covered up.
Thanks for the input!! I've gotten more feedback here then I have... well.. most places I've posted this. <3 <3
Note: The image on the left is the mobile phone version. When designing sites I try to capture what it is going to look like on mobile before I code.
I am also a bit put off by how much of the image is covered. It's a... distraction for me. Was it the same for you?
When I tried to drop the opacity on the boxes, the text became difficult to read. Frustrating.
@drakenhart yes the left image to me is more distracting,especially when I can’t see all of the artwork then I spend more time trying to see it. Does that make sense?
@drakenhart Looking good! Is there a reason that the "DESIGN" header is in a different font and style than every other header on the site, though?
