Still figuring out Mastodon. Did the rookie mistake of joining a general server a couple of days ago, now migrating here for the community and local feed. 😬
Here are some studies trying to capture that effortless clouds look!
#art #painting #digitalart #mastoart #environmentart #illustration
@marmalbear Thanks! Part is due the rough brushwork, it always create the sense of movement, but strokes direction and dimensions also play a huge role with clouds.
I'm finding skies with thin, perspective-heavy clouds very challenging due this!
@camilabrun I think you'll be much happier here. Some of those servers are crazy big! LOL! I'm relatively new here myself, and I have found it to be incredibly welcoming.
One of the best ways I found to discover artists to follow was to look at who other artists were following. But there's also a running list of great artists (and everything else...) that get a shoutout by Fedifollows, who coordinates this list:
@coreyartus Fantastic tip, thank you! So far I've just browsed some tags, following people and checking their boosts.
Just one day in and I'm finding .art very cozy! I was at .social, but it's so big and generalist it's hard to find people.
@camilabrun@mastodon.art @coreyartus@mastodon.art I wish Mastodon had a better user discovery system like some other Fediverse software does, because despite being the most popular Fediverse software, it's severly lacking on features. Over here on Calckey/Misskey, we have this page where you can discover trending and new local/remote users. Anyways, I love ur art!
@thatonecalculator @coreyartus Oooh that's awesome. Thank you! ❤️
@camilabrun lovely clouds! love the color temperatures 👌
@CymechDraws Thank you! I shifted hues for the "green hills and blue skies" pieces because they looked too similar, heh. I'm glad they still work!
Those are beautiful.
I don't know of anyone, myself included, who didn't try a couple of servers before they found one who's community and culture was a good fit. I've been on .art for a while, and it's a good place full of interesting folks.
@RussSharek Thanks! I'm lucky I didn't have to wander too far before finding .art. It's lively in the right amount (I'm easily overwhelmed 😂) and the community seems nice indeed.
Agreed about the level of stimulation here.
@avalon turned me on to the idea of using lists to make mini-feeds of people I didn't want to lose track of in the flood of posts, and it's been very helpful.
@RussSharek @avalon I didn't have the opportunity to fuss with lists just yet, but anything that helps to categorize posts sounds very helpful.
Definitely worth exploring.
@camilabrun Welcome to .art ! 🎉 I think you'll like it here. Lot's of artists of any kind, very diverse community. Take your time figuring out stuff, you'll be fine! Very beautiful colours in your artwork by the way.
@MalteHollmann So far I'm having a lot of fun. This seems a nice place!
@camilabrun Gorgeous!
@arden Thank you! ❤️
@camilabrun Welcome to the fediverse!
@LaCrecerelle Thanks! It's very cozy here!
@camilabrun wow these clouds look so amazing!
@mopani Yay thanks! It's funny how nerve-wracking it can be to paint something that looks so loose. 😆
@camilabrun I like these a lot. You especially nailed it in the second one.
@cobalt Thanks! It's my favourite! It's only second because the thumbnails looked strange otherwise.
@camilabrun Looks awesome!
@camilabrun clouds... My archenemy... After hands.
Ooohhhh those hands with fingers either too long or too ugly
@uddelhexe_ Alas, hands, the bane of at least half the artists! I have yet to find an approach to drawing them that feels right.
@camilabrun
whoa great
@camilabrun Thanks for posting art with image descriptions! 💜
@JennyFluff Mastodon makes it so easy, it's the least I can do!
@camilabrun@mastodon.art Nice 👍
@camilabrun
Wow...
@camilabrun these are great, love the movement in the clouds
