If you contrast something fantastical with something everyone can relate to the fantastical will seem that much fantastical. An example could be size, so let's say you have a super giant tree, well, then you want something we can relate to which can transpose the greatness of the tree, which could be a person, a house and such. It's really about contrast and relationships
