Had an OK figure life drawing session last night. Started with a loose sketch, followed by a greyscale painting, and finally digital "glazing" and opaque color.

Tonight's figure model was Dave. He has a great, expressive face, and holds a rock-steady pose. He's quick with a Dad-joke.

Portraits are so gratifying when they go well. She’s looking down and to the left. #Thoughtful. What’s over there? What’s on her mind? This makes me want to #paint real portraits with people whose stories I actually know.

I have a little more work to do - some animation refinements plus a few more elements.
I like the idea of paintings as web sites as public art.
It becomes a sort of mural.

I'm trying something new this year. I want to make more art more often. And I want to share it with folks who might find it meaningful. I also want to contribute to the open web outside of of Facebook.

I'm starting a small newsletter at TinyLetter where I'll publish once or twice a week. The goal is to create 100 doodles this year...a mix of painting and blogging in your email.
