switching to the new computer somehow put a soft break on a lot of social media for me just because i couldnt be bothered to log in to places again lol

Looking at the last time I posted I think the biggest change has been that I got two eye surgeries done, to treat my Keratoconus. Got last one done this monday. EXTREMELY PAINFUL POST OPS, basically spend the beginning of the week drugged out of my mind on painkillers and sleeping pills lmao

But the eyes have been progressing very well.

The right one was operated on about a month ago, and recently got VERY good news about it that had me crying of happiness that day. See this operation is only meant to STOP the progression of the disease, so that I won't eventually just, well, go blind...

Thing is, for the first couple of weeks my eyesight got even worse after the surgery. I knew it was a possibility that was gonna be permanent...

But I wagered it was still the best choice long term. And I was afraid of getting the second surgery done because the first one was on my REALLY bad eye, and I figured whatever. But operating the one good eye was scary, I didn't know what to expect and all the doctors love to not be very precise about what they tell you.

However a consequence of the surgery, especially for the bad eye is that the eye begins to sort of, reshape. It strengthens it and sometimes it recovers some of the "proper" eye shape. This made my glasses useless for that eye, obviously, which made me think things had gotten worse.

But after a month of the first surgery, I went to get some tests done and the doctor managed to find potential new lenses that improved my eye sight IMMENSELY. I was able to read text very small with that eye that I hadnt been able to in almost ten years!!! GREAT NEWS.

Now im waiting for the second eye to get better and for both to stabilize so that I can actually get new glasses, because they wouldnt give me news yet until the progression slows down a bit (so as to not waste money on glasses every week lol)

they said some really nice things about my webcomic on their invitation email 😍
Dont know how much I can talk about it yet tho, but it's a long term thing and it seems to be going good. I did a metric ton of research for it and sent them a a huge proposal for my story and they loved it! so now (or later when Im better of the eyes) I'll get started on the script for that...

I did NaNoWriMo! Or Kind of!

I gave it a try on a whim, using it to flesh out the script for <next webcomic project>.

It went REALLY well and i was very pleasantry surprised. I wasn't expecting much, obviously I didn't hit 50k but I wasn't aiming for it.

The small daily progress got me to almost 30k words, with a first draft of 5 chapters and about 250 comic pages. It was great and I might make a habit of joining it, left me with a good base to work on.

I also applied to another anthology, a horror one.

NEVER really was into horror comics before, so I had to do a fair bit of research for that one too.

In the end I'm happy with the story I came up with, and I think I'll do a pretty good job there if I can get accepted... we'll see!
I think they'll tell us after the 15th.
