Had a geek nostalgia moment today.

Ended up looking at the site for Damnsmalllinux.

I was always so impressed with how much actual functionality was packed into those minimalist projects, and I still think their extension system was really clever.

Their extension directory still contains a few packages I created, under an old username.

Live CD distros like this, knoppix, dragonlinux and even microscopic tomsrtbt floppy were among my first tastes of Linux.

@RussSharek i used to carry a tomsrtbt with me all over the place. it was amazing what otherwise-hopeless situations you could salvage with that thing.

Slitaz is very impressive too for Being small ans full featured

@troisiemelobe

I'm not familiar with that one. What is it based on?

@RussSharek Hah, years ago I was interested in the Business Card Linux, a distros to our on a BC sized CD. You had 50MB if I remember correctly. I built a variant that removed some stuff and added Emacs instead. 🤓

@donblanco

Nice.

I think my first actual install, after playing with countless live CDs, zip disks and floppies was a stripped down Debian install.
