Setting up a server we plan to use to host #foss, possibly #decentralized applications like #pleroma, #matrix, #peertube, #nextcloud, independent websites and other tools.
Aim is to help local projects, #circularEconomy structures and other like-minded people and projects to get the data back in their hands.
We are doing the whole thing as a #faircoop local node atm, and part of the funds for the server were donated by faircoop. Server itself is physically hosted in Naples, at the Ex-Asilo Filangieri
Bella sta porcata sul copyright, applausoni.
'Where is the geology department?'
'Straight that way, don't worry, you'll recognize it'
Today's fun fact: Forests are inherently socialist. Seriously.
In a forest, most plants are linked together by an underground network of mycorrhizal fungi. Via the fungi, the plants share resources around so that they can all benefit. Wha's more, the plants contribute more or less depending on how much they have. Plants with more resources contribute more to their community, helping to nurture the small, young, and weak ones.
This is one of my favourite random pieces of knowledge!
If you are interested in growing your own food, I highly recommend growing Sorrel. It's a hardy perennial, so comes back each year, & you can even harvest it in mild winters.
It's so easy to grow, & apart from watering it in to get it going, doesn't need much attention after that.
It has a wonderful lemony tang to it. I use it as a Spinach/Chard substitute.
If you want to know more about it, I blogged about it a couple of years ago, here: http://www.gwenfarsgarden.info/2016/05/spoonie-veg-sorrel.html
Same thing is to be said about Australia. How will it handle refugee crises, since it's heading more and more in the South East Asia direction?
I can also see how America is getting closer to Russia, while the relationship with Europe are, how to say, divergent. But that's temporary: I'm sure the two will get united again.
With some friends we are setting up a local informal environmentalist group, with the aim of pushing forward good practices, spread sustainability, ecological awareness, and this kind of #solarpunk. stuff.
So far we are planning of doing #permaculture , #food production, #composting workshops, #Seed library, #GuerrillaGardening, collective purchase from #RegenerativeAgriculture farms, but we'd like to have more on the todo list.
Help me get out of our echo chamber, and give me your ideas about more activities we could engage ourselves and the local communities in.
This afternoon, I decided to practice a few techniques on a test piece.
I uncoiled some spring my Brother gave me, cut and straitened it, then wired together and forge-welded both ends (successfully!).
I then heated the middle, and twisted the strands together, then re-heated and untwisted a ½-¾ turn, resulting in the classic Blacksmith's Basket Twist.
Photography newbie, kind of painter for a living and on the behalf of Nature in the fierce battle against humankind.
