We breathe in tension
We're forgetting how to sleep.

Of course, that was the other problem with her situation. Becky and all of her friends may not have had the talent to get /everything/ they wanted at school, but their families went to the same country club as five school board members and the assistant principal's brother-in-law. Economics wasn't Rae's strongest suit, but some things did trickle down, things with which nobody below wanted to get wet.
This is the cover of our latest charity-anthology release, Hideous Progeny: Classic Horror Goes Punk. We teamed up with a bunch of other authors to again raise money for PAWS animal shelter and wildlife rescue. Our particular work was an adaptation of the classic vampire lesbian story Carmilla into one of our emergent-Steampunk settings.
The cover artist was the talented Lia Rees.
So we had something a little out of our usual wheelhouse, a creative nonfiction piece, featured in a zine recently. They'd asked for disabled writers and artists to contribute. We wrote something intensely personal, doing something we've never done before together and used formatting to show which 'voice' was talking. Since the zine said they were taking visual art, we assumed they could leave special formatting intact. They didn't. Nor did they ask before making it uniform. ::sigh::
Hi. We're Katherine and Jeffrey, and we're writers who, as may be clear from this account, like to do stuff jointly. Most of our books are YA fantasy, although we're involved in other speculative-fiction publishing as well. We're hoping to get the hang of mastodon to have a social media environment we can feel comfortable in, because we're not always good at this. #introduction
