I got to Chiku a bit ago, but I've been laid out sick because of some bad food I ate while I was on the road, so I haven't been able to check out the junkyard yet! I'm super bummed, but my strength is all I have to offer in order to get stuff, and I don't even have that right now!
It sucks even more because I can't even explore the city! This place is big and the architecture looks so interesting! Spirals and stuff everywhere! Hopefully tomorrow I can at least walk around a little...
Greetings people of mastodon.art, I come in peace. #art #strange #bunny https://mastodon.art/media/n7gqjaYjDIq1WvQadL0
I've made it a little more than half way to Chiku, but I'm tired, so I'm stopping outside of Jakou for the night. There's a fueling station that offers free electrical jacks for me to plug into for a little bit, and I'm lucky enough to have found a network to log into! Lucky lucky me!
I don't have any wood and it rained recently so all the twigs are damp around here, so no campfire. Oh well. I'll just snack on some dried fruit and nuts and fall asleep staring at the stars.
[Hi, author of Isaac here. Any other #tootfic or RP accounts I should have this guy follow? Likes and boosts are inevitable. :) Thanks!]
I spent a couple hours yesterday stocking up on supplies and extra fuel because according to this map I found, the nearest town with a junkyard is about 500km west of here... but I think that'll be worth it.
When I'm there, I'm sure there'll be enough stuff to salvage a properly working solar battery!
Anyway, time to hit the road.

Having graphics and a wider swath of internet to access has been pretty interesting! This girl I was following on here, @Stephemeral, disappeared a little bit before I fried last computer, but then I found this:
https://suture.space/2017/06/13/74/
Guess I'll just have to check out that site to see what she's up to. She always seemed to be on the move doing cool stuff... speaking of which, I should get moving too!
I'm finally back. While working on the solar battery, I completely fried my computer—with literal flames—so I had to find new parts to build another. This time I was able to salvage some parts that support a GUI! I had no idea there were pictures coming through the feed—they just showed up as giant blocks of garbled text, but it makes a lot more sense now!
Anyway, I'm still reliant on stationary power, but I was able to finish the truck, so I'm gonna be heading to the next town soon!

I got the trailer bed and wheels done today. I don't have the materials and tools I need to bend a big sheet of metal over the top of it though... so I just put on some low walls. At least I can lug some stuff around!
I'm gonna try to figure out the solar powered battery thing for my computer now so I can maybe start planning on hitting the road and finding the next junkyard! I don't think it'll be too hard, but I'll update as I go! :)
Whew! So I worked all day and got a chain system rigged up so when I pull the left chain, the truck turns left, and ditto with right! And the stop/go lever works perfectly too! It's all tested and good so hooray!
I've been working on the trailer a bit too, and it's gonna just be pretty simple—a long, thin piece of scrap metal bent over a few lengths of wood, then I stick some wheels on it! At least that's what makes sense to me. Guess we'll see how it goes!
#tootfic
Okay, it's all ok now. I got the scrap off the truck and sort of re-piled. It's a bit dinged up and the truck's cabin is crushed in so I can't ride in it... that's ok though because I clearly don't know how to set up a steering column. Instead, I'm gonna use chains and handles to turn it. Like a wagon. And use a long lever for making the engine go and stop. It'll make a little more sense for me anyway...
On the bright side, I have a dedicated sleeping area inside the crushed cabin now!
#tootfic
OH GODS OH NO I DID SOMETHING WRONG
THE STEERING COLUMN DOESNT DO ANYTHING I DIDNT CONNECT IT RIGHT OR SOMETHING AND ALSO I FORGOT A STEERING WHEEL
NO NO NO THE STEEL SCRAP PILE FELL ON THE TRUCK
#tootfic
Whew! After a lot of trial and error, I finally got a steering column and even some brakes installed on the truck! I'm probably more than halfway done now! I think some basic sheet metal and a few planks will go a long way in making a trailer to lug around, so I guess that's next.
If everything keeps going this well for me, I might be able to get out of here pretty soon! But I can't help but feeling like something will go wrong... or like I'm missing some crucial detail...
In more positive news, I was able to get the last of the fruit at the diner for lunch! Berries, syrup, and a nice thick hunk of toasted bread, all topped with some nice cream. Almost dainty for a diner like this! It was wonderful. The owner said there wasn't gonna be more fruit shipped for another couple weeks, so I was lucky indeed! :D

:( there was a dead rabbit in the town square... poor little thing. I said a prayer over it and brought it to a field outside of town so it's not just thrown in the garbage and some other creature can still have an easy meal. :/
#tootfic
Whew! I slept in. A truck's cabin is a lot comfier than I expected even without windows. Now to get some breakfast. Maybe today I'll get something sweet instead of savory. Hopefully they've got fruit—I haven't seen any produce trucks roll through in a while.
I should invest in something soft to sleep on, because sleeping under a blanket on the ground is really starting to do a number on my back...
To-do: put a bed in the truck's trailer after you've got everything set up and ready to move
The truck is moving! Woohoo!
But I can't turn it! I forgot the steering column! Also, it crashed into a mountain of aluminum scrap because it can't stop either... I guess I have more work to do on this thing before I can leave... :|
.....at least there's music.
Amazing! Those flashlights sold super quickly! I made more than enough for a nice dinner. More curry! But vegetable curry this time. Zucchini and broccoli, and this time they cooked the rice right! :D
And I finished a basic radio! Didn't think about what finishing the radio would mean without it attached to the frame of the truck, though. Hmm. Gotta fix that. Might need a nice little antenna too.
At least now I've got some nice orchestral stuff music... wonder where it's broadcasting from.
Awesome, I got a few flashlights put together! They look pretty nice, too. Eclectic style... they'll sell well tonight, I bet. Hopefully people in this town stay out at night!
I always wonder who throws some of this stuff away... like, there was some fully functioning stuff in this delivery!
