In science fiction, we imagine radio contact from a distant star.
Our own radio broadcasts started around 1900. Today we are transitioning to Internet delivery of the "radio" electromagnetic signal.
In the scope of time, what is a century+ of broadcast?
Would we notice such a blip?
Imagine a civilization listening for millenia...
...but those moments in the universe of time don't begin to overlap the 100 year broadcasts we've made.
While I do imagine other intelligences in the universe, I do not imagine their time overlapping ours in a relativistic reality.
@Algot It's very doubtful.
I still enjoy the imaginative wonder of how encounters would go.
That's why I read science fiction, I guess.
@Algot Yes, the what-ifs are interesting.
@Algot Imagine an alien civilization about 100 light years distant. They would have observed the Sun for many decades but suddenly, odd radio signals have started to emanate from its vicinity and have steady been increasing in strength.
