follow ur own interest to the maxxxx... take ur taste to the extreme. what do you value in a drawing? put all your work towards it, and maybe your weakness can be overlooked.... lol
i use colours to make all the things i'm not good at look less bad. because you're busy being blinded by neon you don't notice
my contract for the show i'm working on finishes in 2 weeks. it's the best show i could ever have gotten to work on fresh out of school. i've used a lifetime of luck to land this show and this studio; probably nothing will ever be so timely and opportune again
i dont want to climb any corporate ladders though. i'm really good at being a small production grunt

i'm testing the look as well as materials
i'm trying a combination of tools so maybe i'll be able to choose one to use when drawing the final. probably will affect the look of it depending on the materials
i love fabriano but it doesn't look like it'll hold up against how much ink i'm putting on it... hmm i might end up sticking with the maruman paper again

i'm quite fond of the croquis line from maruman, the paper is thin so i don't feel like i have to commit to a drawing and it serves as a good brainstorming pad.
it's double sideable when drawing with pencil but probably single side only with pen or else everything gets messy.
i also like the thicker maruman paper; the brand tends to be the cheap sketch paper i saw in bookstores and art supply shops in tokyo but boy the sketch pad is really good for inks, pencils and even wc! the tooth makes it feel quite nice to me, though it's only on one side
these days i prefer smoother paper since i started using fountain pens, but i still have a bunch of the maruman sketch paper back when i had to order it from overseas and it cost a lot so i stocked up
